Bangkok, 13 September, 2022 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to invite tourists to the Songkla Beach Festival that will take place at lovely Samila Beach in Songkhla from 23-25 September, 2022, for three days of festive fun and exciting on-and-off-the-water surfing action.
Organised by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports together with the Sports Authority of Thailand, the National Sports Development Fund, TAT, the Sports Association of Songkhla Province, and Thailand Surfing Federation, the Songkla Beach Festival features two main sporting events – Surfskate contest and SUP Race (stand-up paddleboarding).
The Surfskate contest will be held over the three days of 23-25 September and offer total prize money of over 155,000 Baht. The different categories are Under 18s (Men), Under 18s (Women), Pro Open no age limit (Men), and Pro Open no age limit (Women) – each race will be limited to 24 participants. Meanwhile, the numbers of competitors in the General (Men) and General (Women) categories will be limited to 32.
The SUP Race will be held over two days on 24-25 September and offer total prize money of over 226,000 Baht. There will be a 3-km Fun Race with different age categories for youth and adults, as well as a Shadow One Design category with no age limit, a 6-km Technical Race, and a 200-metre Sprint Race. In both the Technical Race and Sprint Race, points can be earned for the Thailand Championship.
Both the Surfskate contest and SUP Race are open to international athletes with registration being free and open until 22.00 Hrs. on Friday, 16 September, 2022.

Both participants and spectators at the Songkla Beach Festival will be able to enjoy the picturesque setting of Samila Beach, one of the Southern province of Songkhla’s most popular beaches. Located in the town of Songkhla, not far from Hat Yai city, the fine sandy beach is home to the iconic mermaid and Naga serpent statues and offers a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
For those not able to join the festival in person, it will be streamed live on the YouTube channel Thailand Surfing Federation.
